Interview with Photographer Joao Canziani
Definite must-read.
JONATHAN CHERRY: Any advice to recent photography graduates?
JOAO CANZIANI: Yes. Read the above to mean that in my opinion you cannot get stuck in the ivory tower of your own dreams and personal projects. You must go test your ideas in the real world. Not only you must go out there and shoot them, you must show what you came back with. You shoot for you, but also for others. Artistic validation doesn’t just come from inside, but from others of similar hearts and minds. And never stop hustling. When you’re exhausted and are about to give up, keep on at it, because the reward comes when you least expect it.
